OVERVIEW
This website is operated by The Stencil Tailor Ltd, trading as The Stencil Tailor ("we", "us", "our").
We specialise in custom-made stencils produced to customers' individual requirements, including stencils created from photographs, illustrations, logos, text and other artwork.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern purchases made through our website at https://thestenciltailor.com and the use of our associated services, including custom artwork preparation, stencil design and manufacturing.
Please read these Terms carefully before placing an order. They explain our ordering process, the technical requirements of stencil production, design approvals, additional fees, cancellations, delivery and customer rights.
By placing an order, you agree to the Terms applicable at the time of purchase.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or otherwise affects any statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
These Terms should be read alongside our:
- Refund Policy: https://thestenciltailor.com/policies/refund-policy
- Shipping Policy: https://thestenciltailor.com/policies/shipping-policy
- Privacy Policy: https://thestenciltailor.com/policies/privacy-policy
Where a specific product description or individually agreed written specification differs from a general provision in these Terms, the more specific agreed information will take precedence, subject to applicable law.
SECTION 1 – OUR BUSINESS
The Stencil Tailor Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales.
Company number: 13039330
Business address:
The Stencil Tailor Ltd
Unit 28, Studio 9

London, N15 4GP
United Kingdom

Website: https://thestenciltailor.com
We provide custom stencil design, artwork preparation and manufacturing services to customers in the United Kingdom and internationally.
SECTION 2 – PLACING AND ACCEPTING ORDERS
2.1 Order information
Customers are responsible for providing accurate order information, including:
- The required stencil size and dimensions.
- The intended artwork, text, logo or design.
- Any specific positioning, orientation or layout instructions.
- The quantity of stencils required.
- Accurate delivery and contact information.
- Any particular requirements communicated and agreed before production.
Customers should carefully review all details before completing checkout.
2.2 Order acceptance
Submitting an order constitutes an offer to purchase the selected products or services.
An order is accepted when we issue an order acceptance or confirmation, subject to any outstanding artwork requirements or separately agreed design fees.
An automated acknowledgement does not constitute acceptance of additional requirements that we have not expressly agreed to provide.
We may decline or cancel an order where there is a genuine reason, including technical infeasibility, unavailable materials, suspected fraud, infringement concerns or an obvious pricing error.
Where we cancel an order because we cannot fulfil the agreed requirements, we will provide an appropriate refund in accordance with applicable law.
2.3 Additional requests
Requests made after an order has been placed do not automatically become part of the agreed specification.
Changes, additions or special requirements must be confirmed by us in writing before they become binding.
Any additional charges will be communicated for agreement before the relevant additional work is undertaken.
2.4 Separate designs
Unless expressly stated otherwise, each separately supplied artwork, image, logo or design requires its own individual stencil order.
Purchasing one stencil does not entitle a customer to have multiple unrelated designs prepared or manufactured as separate stencils.
Where an order includes several distinct designs, additional quantities, design preparation or manufacturing charges may apply.
We will confirm any additional amount requiring payment before proceeding.
SECTION 3 – CUSTOM-MADE STENCILS
3.1 Nature of our products
Our stencils are individually manufactured according to the size, artwork, text or other specifications associated with each order.
They are not conventional mass-produced goods.
Stencils made to a customer's individual specifications or clearly personalised may be exempt from the standard statutory change-of-mind cancellation right, as explained in Section 11.
The fact that an item is manufactured after an order is placed does not, by itself, determine whether the statutory exemption applies.
3.2 Artwork and physical stencil differences
A stencil is a physical cutting template, not a conventional printed reproduction.
An image that can be printed or displayed digitally may not be capable of being reproduced identically as a functional stencil.
Physical stencil production involves technical limitations relating to:
- Material strength and durability.
- Minimum cutting detail.
- Spacing between individual elements.
- Supporting connections and stencil bridges.
- The scale and proportions of the design.
- The number and complexity of cut-out areas.
- The risk of small details becoming detached or damaged.
These limitations may affect the level of detail that can be reproduced.
3.3 No automatic guarantee of identical reproduction
Unless we have expressly confirmed in writing that an artwork can be reproduced exactly, an order for a stencil does not constitute a guarantee that every original line, shape, texture or fine detail can be retained without modification.
We will use reasonable care and skill to prepare artwork in accordance with the agreed specification and the practical requirements of stencil cutting.
Material differences from the agreed design will be addressed under our artwork approval and customer rights provisions.
SECTION 4 – CUSTOMER-SUPPLIED ARTWORK
4.1 Responsibility for supplied files
Customers are responsible for ensuring that their submitted artwork and instructions accurately represent the intended design.
This includes checking:
- Spelling and punctuation.
- Names, dates and numbers.
- Text orientation and layout.
- Image quality and resolution.
- Proportions and requested dimensions.
- Symbols, logos and other design elements.
- Language-specific details, including non-Latin scripts.
We do not routinely verify the linguistic, religious, historical or cultural accuracy of customer-supplied artwork.
Where such accuracy is essential, customers should provide a suitable, verified reference and make those requirements clear before work begins.
We remain responsible for errors introduced by us and for performing any agreed design services with reasonable care and skill.
4.2 Artwork quality
Low-resolution, blurred, incomplete, heavily detailed or otherwise unsuitable artwork may require additional manual preparation.
We may request a clearer file or propose modifications to make the design suitable for manufacture.
We are not required to begin additional paid work until the customer has agreed to the relevant charge.
4.3 Artwork conversion
Some designs require manual redrawing or conversion into cutting-compatible artwork.
This may involve:
- Reconstructing outlines.
- Simplifying fine details.
- Separating connected shapes.
- Removing unsuitable photographic effects.
- Adjusting line thickness.
- Creating supporting stencil bridges.
- Converting images into suitable cutting paths.
The extent of these modifications depends on the artwork, selected size and intended stencil construction.
4.4 Permission to use artwork
By providing artwork, customers confirm that they own the relevant rights or have the necessary permission to reproduce it for the requested purpose.
Customers authorise us to use, process and adapt the supplied artwork to fulfil their order.
We may refuse requests involving material that we reasonably believe infringes third-party rights or is unlawful.
Customers remain responsible for obtaining any permissions required for artwork they supply. This does not exclude liability for our own unlawful conduct.
SECTION 5 – STENCIL DESIGN PREPARATION AND TECHNICAL ADJUSTMENTS
5.1 Technical preparation
To manufacture a functional stencil, it may be necessary to alter certain technical aspects of an image or design.
Depending on the artwork, adjustments may include:
- Adding or repositioning stencil bridges.
- Connecting otherwise unsupported sections.
- Removing isolated internal pieces.
- Increasing the thickness of narrow lines.
- Enlarging or simplifying very small details.
- Adjusting the spacing between elements.
- Removing excessively intricate cut-outs.
- Simplifying photographic features into stencil-compatible shapes.
- Adjusting contours to prevent tearing or loss of structural integrity.
These adjustments are made for practical manufacturing purposes.
5.2 Preservation of the intended design
Our objective is to preserve the overall identity, composition and essential characteristics of the agreed artwork while making it suitable for stencil production.
However, preserving the general appearance of a design does not mean every original detail can necessarily be reproduced.
The amount of simplification required will depend on the artwork's complexity and the selected stencil dimensions.
5.3 Material alterations
We distinguish between minor technical adjustments and substantial changes to an agreed design.
Minor technical adjustments reasonably necessary for stencil manufacture may be undertaken where consistent with the agreed specification and any proof requirements.
Where we identify that significant changes would be required to important design elements, we may contact the customer to explain the limitations and seek agreement to a modified design.
We will not knowingly substitute substantially different wording, symbols or essential artistic elements without appropriate agreement.
If a particular detail is essential and cannot reasonably be reproduced at the requested size, we may recommend increasing the size, simplifying the artwork, changing the specification or selecting an alternative approach.
5.4 Feasibility of intricate designs
Customers should understand that artwork containing extremely small text, elaborate calligraphy, detailed photographs or large numbers of narrow connections may not be reproducible with complete fidelity.
Where we reasonably determine that an agreed design cannot be manufactured satisfactorily, we will contact the customer to discuss the available options.
If an acceptable alternative cannot be agreed, the order will be addressed in accordance with Sections 6, 11 and 12, including any applicable refund rights.
5.5 Technical preparation versus artistic redesign
Standard technical preparation does not include unlimited artistic redesign, repeated creative changes or the preparation of unrelated alternative artwork.
Substantial redesigns are separate requests and may require a further quotation.
This does not affect our obligation to correct work that fails to meet the original agreed specification or applicable legal requirements.
SECTION 6 – DESIGN FEES AND ADDITIONAL PREPARATION CHARGES
6.1 Standard preparation
The stencil price includes standard preparation ordinarily required for the selected product, unless otherwise stated in the listing or agreed quotation.
6.2 Additional design work
An additional design preparation fee may be required for artwork involving unusually extensive work, including:
- Detailed photographs or portraits.
- Complex illustrations.
- Intricate calligraphy or lettering.
- Heavily detailed logos.
- Manual tracing or extensive reconstruction.
- Designs requiring significant bridge preparation.
- Multiple individual design conversions.
- Additional artwork preparation outside the standard product specification.
We will explain the additional fee and obtain agreement before carrying out the separately chargeable work.
6.3 What the fee covers
An additional design fee pays for the agreed artwork preparation services.
It does not purchase unlimited revisions, guarantee that every original detail can be retained, or cover the preparation of unrelated replacement designs unless expressly agreed.
A design fee does not remove our obligation to perform the agreed work with reasonable care and skill.
6.4 Design preparation is distinct from manufacturing
Where a separately charged design preparation service has been expressly agreed, the service may be supplied before the physical stencil is manufactured.
Completion of the design preparation and completion of the physical stencil are separate operational stages.
Any legal rights relating to cancellation of a separately purchased service are explained in Section 11.
6.5 Cancellation after design work has started
Where a customer requests cancellation after design preparation has begun, we will assess the work completed, the agreed scope of the service, the reason for cancellation and any applicable statutory cancellation rights.
Where legally permitted, we may retain a fair and proportionate charge for conforming services already supplied or recover reasonable losses directly arising from cancellation.
Any retained amount will be assessed according to the circumstances and will not automatically equal the full order value.
No charge will be retained contrary to the customer's statutory rights.
6.6 Commencement of separately purchased services
Where a separately purchased design service is subject to a statutory cancellation period, we will obtain any express request and acknowledgement required by law before commencing that service within the cancellation period.
Payment of a design fee or general acceptance of these Terms does not, by itself, constitute a waiver of statutory cancellation rights.
Where a customer validly requests immediate commencement, any charges following cancellation will be determined in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.
SECTION 7 – DESIGN PREVIEWS, PROOFS AND APPROVAL
7.1 Types of preview
During the order process, we may provide different types of visual references.
These may include:
Reference artwork: The original image, logo or design supplied by the customer.
Layout or sizing preview: A visual representation illustrating the proposed dimensions, positioning, proportions or general appearance of the stencil.
Final cutting proof: A representation of the prepared design intended to show the artwork that will be used for production, including relevant stencil conversion details.
These stages serve different purposes and should not be treated as interchangeable.
7.2 Preliminary previews
An initial layout, reference image or sizing example may be supplied to confirm the intended composition or dimensions.
Approval of a preliminary preview confirms the matters identified in that preview. It does not automatically constitute approval of substantial subsequent alterations that were not disclosed.
Preliminary previews may not show every bridge, technical cutting detail or manufacturing adjustment.
7.3 Availability of proofs
Design proofs are not automatically provided for every order.
Unless a final proof has been expressly agreed, we may prepare and manufacture the stencil using the customer's supplied artwork and agreed instructions, subject to the technical adjustments described in these Terms.
We do not ordinarily provide completed bespoke design work or final cutting proofs before an order has been placed and any agreed preparation fee has been paid.
7.4 Final proof approval
Where we have expressly agreed to provide a final cutting proof for approval, production will not proceed until the necessary approval has been received.
The customer should review the proof carefully and notify us of any concerns before authorising cutting.
Approval may be provided by email, a supported website confirmation process or another written communication clearly identifying the approved proof.
General expressions of satisfaction with an earlier design or layout do not automatically constitute approval of a later final cutting proof.
7.5 Customer checks
Customers reviewing a final proof should pay particular attention to:
- Spelling and wording.
- The appearance of text and calligraphy.
- Design proportions and orientation.
- Important symbols and details.
- The placement of supporting bridges.
- Areas that have been simplified.
- Any specifically agreed features.
If a design feature is essential, the customer should identify it clearly when providing feedback.
7.6 After approval
Once the customer has expressly approved the relevant final proof and cutting has begun, changes may not be possible without additional work or cost.
Approval of a proof does not remove our responsibility for manufacturing errors, defects or other failures to meet the agreed specification.
7.7 No response to a proof
Where final approval is required and no response is received, we may place the order on hold and contact the customer for instructions.
Silence or failure to respond will not automatically be treated as approval where we have expressly agreed to obtain it.
Extended delays in receiving approval may affect estimated production and delivery dates.
We will address any subsequent cancellation or termination in accordance with the applicable contract and consumer law.
SECTION 8 – REVISIONS, DESIGN CHANGES AND ALTERNATIVE ARTWORK
8.1 Corrections to agreed work
If prepared artwork does not conform to the agreed specification or the design service has not been performed with reasonable care and skill, we will address the issue in accordance with the customer's legal rights.
Necessary corrections to remedy our own errors will not be treated as optional chargeable redesigns.
8.2 Customer-requested revisions
Requests to modify an otherwise conforming design may include:
- Changing the overall composition.
- Replacing design elements.
- Adding new text or symbols.
- Changing the artistic style.
- Significantly increasing the amount of detail.
- Reworking previously agreed design features.
- Changing the selected artwork after preparation has begun.
Such changes may require additional preparation, and we will confirm any applicable charges before undertaking them.
8.3 Alternative designs
Providing an entirely different image, logo or artwork after preparation has begun will generally be treated as a new design request.
Previous design preparation charges will not automatically cover an unrelated replacement design.
Any additional fee will be discussed and agreed before new chargeable work begins.
8.4 Limits on revisions
Unless otherwise agreed, orders do not include unlimited design revisions.
We may quote for substantial revisions beyond the originally agreed scope of work.
This provision does not restrict the customer's right to appropriate remedies where the original work fails to conform to the contract.
8.5 Changes after manufacturing begins
Once stencil cutting has started, requested design alterations may require a new stencil to be manufactured.
Where the change is requested by the customer and the original product conforms to the agreed specification, additional manufacturing and delivery charges may apply.
SECTION 9 – STENCIL SIZING, DIMENSIONS AND MULTIPLE SHEETS
9.1 Stencil dimensions
Customers must select the required dimensions according to the relevant product listing.
Unless otherwise agreed, the stated size refers to the design dimension identified in the product description or order confirmation.
The overall physical sheet may be larger than the artwork because a surrounding material border may be required.
9.2 Proportional scaling
Where only one design dimension is specified, the other dimension will ordinarily be scaled proportionately to preserve the artwork's aspect ratio, unless a different layout has been expressly agreed.
We will not intentionally stretch or distort artwork contrary to an agreed specification.
9.3 Measurement variations
Reasonable manufacturing tolerances may arise from the cutting process and material characteristics.
Any variation must be consistent with the agreed description and must not materially affect the product's intended use.
If exact dimensional tolerances are essential, the customer should raise this before ordering so that we can confirm whether the requirements can be met.
9.4 Manufacturing limits
Our equipment and materials are subject to maximum single-sheet cutting dimensions.
A requested stencil size may exceed the dimensions that can be manufactured on one continuous sheet.
Where necessary, larger designs may be divided into multiple stencil sections.
9.5 Split stencils
Oversized designs may require two, three, four or more individual sheets, depending on their dimensions and complexity.
Where multiple sheets are necessary, we will communicate the arrangement and any relevant additional charges before proceeding where these have not already been agreed.
Split stencils may require the customer to position, align or assemble the individual sections during use.
Unless expressly agreed, ordering an oversized design does not guarantee that it can be manufactured as one uninterrupted sheet.
9.6 Multiple colours and layers
Designs intended for multiple colours may require separate stencil layers.
Each layer may require its own preparation, manufacture and alignment.
Multi-layer stencils are not automatically included in a single-stencil price unless specifically stated.
Where precise registration between layers is essential, customers should discuss the requirements with us before purchasing.
SECTION 10 – PRODUCTION AND PROCESSING TIMES
10.1 Production schedule
Our standard processing time for website orders is typically 2–3 working days, depending on the design and current workload.
Working days exclude weekends and UK public holidays.
Processing times may be extended where an order requires:
- Additional manual design preparation.
- Customer approval.
- Clarification of submitted instructions.
- Payment of an agreed design fee.
- Complex or oversized manufacturing.
- Replacement of unsuitable artwork.
10.2 When processing begins
Where artwork, clarification, payment or final approval is necessary before production, the relevant processing period may begin once those requirements have been satisfied.
10.3 Rush orders
Where a rush preparation or dispatch service is offered, the applicable service description will explain the priority or processing target.
Unless expressly stated, purchasing a rush service does not guarantee delivery on a particular date.
10.4 Estimated dates
Any production or dispatch estimates will be provided in good faith.
We will notify customers of significant delays where reasonably practicable.
Nothing in this section removes statutory rights relating to delivery within an agreed or legally required period.
SECTION 11 – CUSTOMER CANCELLATIONS AND NON-CONFORMING ORDERS
11.1 Personalised goods
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, goods made to a customer's specifications or clearly personalised are generally excluded from the standard 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right.
This exemption applies where the particular goods meet the legal requirements for personalised or made-to-specification products.
It is not dependent solely on whether cutting has already begun.
11.2 Requests to cancel
Customers wishing to cancel should contact us as soon as possible.
Where an order is legally exempt from the statutory change-of-mind cancellation right, we may decline a discretionary cancellation after the contract has been formed.
However, we will consider reasonable cancellation requests based on the circumstances and the stage of the order.
Any cancellation charges or retained payments must be fair and consistent with applicable law.
11.3 Goods not covered by the personalised-goods exemption
Where a product does not qualify for the exemption, any applicable statutory cancellation rights remain available.
Customers will be given the relevant cancellation information as required by law.
11.4 Separately agreed design services
A separately contracted design service may have different cancellation rights from a contract for personalised physical goods.
Where a statutory cancellation period applies to the service, its commencement, completion and cancellation will be handled in accordance with applicable law.
If a customer requests that such a service begin during the cancellation period and subsequently cancels, any payment due for work supplied will be determined according to the applicable statutory rules.
11.5 Cancellation due to our failure
Nothing in this section removes the customer's right to a refund or another legally available remedy where:
- We fail to provide the agreed goods or services.
- The product does not conform to the contract.
- The design service is not performed with reasonable care and skill.
- We fail to fulfil an applicable delivery obligation.
- Another statutory right to cancel, reject or seek a remedy applies.
11.6 Cancellation of incomplete orders
Where a discretionary cancellation is accepted after work has begun, we will consider any conforming work already completed, materials reasonably committed and direct losses resulting from cancellation.
We will not impose arbitrary penalties or retain more than is fair and legally permitted.
We will take reasonable steps to mitigate avoidable losses.
SECTION 12 – REFUNDS, RETURNS AND CONSUMER RIGHTS
12.1 Statutory rights
We aim to supply products that are of satisfactory quality, fit for any purpose made known to us and agreed, and consistent with their description.
Our design services will be performed with reasonable care and skill.
Customers retain the rights and remedies provided by applicable consumer law.
12.2 Change-of-mind returns
We do not generally offer discretionary change-of-mind returns for genuinely personalised stencils made to customers' individual specifications.
This restriction does not apply where the customer has a statutory right to cancel or another legal entitlement to a remedy.
12.3 Faulty or incorrect products
If a stencil arrives damaged, defective, incorrectly manufactured or otherwise fails to conform to the contract, customers should contact us with their order number and relevant details.
Where possible, photographs will help us assess the issue.
We may offer an appropriate replacement, repair, refund or other remedy depending on the circumstances and the customer's statutory rights.
12.4 Reporting issues
We encourage customers to report visible damage or errors promptly after delivery.
However, any recommended reporting period is not a limitation on statutory consumer rights.
12.5 Remedies
Where the law entitles a customer to reject goods, obtain a refund, require repeat performance of a service or receive a price reduction, we will honour those rights.
We will not require customers to accept a replacement where they are legally entitled to a refund.
12.6 Customer-provided errors
Where a product accurately reflects incorrect information supplied or approved by the customer, and the product otherwise conforms to the contract, we are not ordinarily responsible for replacing it free of charge.
This includes customer-originated spelling errors, incorrect measurements or other incorrect instructions.
We remain responsible for our own errors and any failures to meet our legal obligations.
SECTION 13 – PRICES, PAYMENTS AND ADDITIONAL CHARGES
13.1 Product prices
Prices are displayed in the currency selected or shown at checkout.
The total amount payable, including applicable taxes and delivery charges collected by us, will be presented before the customer confirms the order.
Prices may vary between countries and currencies.
Currency conversion or rounding may result in differences between displayed prices in different markets.
13.2 Price changes
We may change advertised prices at any time.
Changes will not retrospectively alter the price of an accepted order unless the customer agrees to a permitted amendment.
13.3 Design and supplementary charges
Additional charges for manual design preparation, replacement artwork, extra stencil layers, oversized designs or other non-standard work will be disclosed and agreed before the chargeable work is undertaken.
We will not automatically add unapproved supplementary fees.
13.4 Payment
Payment must be made using an accepted payment method.
Where a supplementary invoice or payment link has been issued, any work dependent on that payment may remain on hold until the amount has been received.
13.5 Payment disputes
Customers who believe a charge is incorrect should contact us so that we can investigate.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a customer from exercising lawful payment-dispute, chargeback or statutory refund rights.
SECTION 14 – SHIPPING AND DELIVERY
14.1 Dispatch location
Orders are dispatched from London, United Kingdom.
14.2 Delivery services
Available shipping services, charges and estimated delivery times are displayed at checkout.
Delivery times are estimates unless a specific delivery deadline has been expressly agreed.
An upgraded delivery service does not guarantee delivery by a particular date unless that guarantee is expressly included in the service purchased.
14.3 Delivery obligations
We will take reasonable steps to deliver orders within the agreed timeframe and will comply with applicable statutory delivery requirements.
Where no delivery period has been agreed, the statutory rules governing delivery times will apply.
14.4 Shipping delays
Postal and courier delays may occur due to transportation disruption, customs processing, adverse weather or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We will assist customers with delivery issues and comply with our legal obligations where goods are delayed, lost or not delivered.
14.5 Risk during delivery
For consumer orders, goods generally remain at our risk until they come into the physical possession of the customer or a person identified by the customer to receive them.
An exception may apply where the customer independently arranges a carrier that we did not offer as a delivery option, as provided by applicable law.
14.6 Incorrect addresses
Customers should provide a complete and accurate delivery address.
If an address supplied by the customer is incorrect or incomplete, we may request reasonable additional delivery charges where legally appropriate.
We are responsible for errors made by us when processing an otherwise correct address.
14.7 Missing deliveries
Customers should contact us if an order has not arrived within the expected timeframe.
We may investigate the tracking information, delivery confirmation and relevant circumstances with the carrier.
A tracking status alone does not remove any legal responsibility we may have for undelivered goods.
SECTION 15 – INTERNATIONAL ORDERS, CUSTOMS AND IMPORT DUTIES
15.1 International dispatch
We ship internationally to supported destinations from the United Kingdom.
International delivery may be subject to customs declarations, inspection, local import rules and country-specific restrictions.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that the ordered products can lawfully be imported and used in their destination country, except where we have expressly undertaken a particular obligation.
15.2 United States orders
Orders shipped to the United States are normally dispatched using a duties-paid shipping arrangement as described in our Shipping Policy.
Where we expressly state that applicable import duties and customs clearance fees are included, those charges will be covered in accordance with the stated service.
US state or local sales taxes are separate from import duties and will be treated according to the applicable checkout and tax arrangements.
Customers should contact us if they are incorrectly requested to pay import charges that we expressly agreed to cover.
15.3 European Union orders
Unless otherwise stated at checkout or in our Shipping Policy, orders to European Union destinations may be shipped on a duties-unpaid basis.
Import VAT, customs duties, handling fees and similar destination charges may be payable by the recipient.
Such charges are not included unless we expressly state that they have been prepaid or collected.
15.4 Other countries
For destinations outside the United States and European Union, customs duties, import taxes and clearance fees may apply.
Responsibility for these charges will follow the delivery arrangement disclosed at checkout and in our Shipping Policy.
15.5 Customs delays and refusal of delivery
Customs inspections and clearance procedures may cause delays.
Where a customer refuses a delivery solely because of charges that were properly disclosed as their responsibility, we may assess reasonable resulting costs when considering any discretionary refund, subject to applicable law.
We will not charge the customer for import duties or fees that we expressly agreed to cover.
15.6 Mandatory local rights
Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer protections applicable in a customer's country of residence where those protections apply to the transaction.
SECTION 16 – STENCIL USE, CARE AND SUITABILITY
16.1 Intended use
Our stencils are designed for the purposes described in the relevant product listing.
Customers should consider whether the selected material, size and design are suitable for their intended application.
16.2 Surface compatibility
Stencil performance may vary according to the surface, method of application and materials used.
Results may be affected by:
- Rough or uneven surfaces.
- Curved or heavily textured surfaces.
- Excessive paint or ink application.
- Incorrect positioning or securing.
- Unsuitable adhesives or cleaning products.
- Excessive stretching, folding or mechanical stress.
Customers should follow any provided care or usage instructions and test unfamiliar applications where appropriate.
16.3 Durability
Stencil durability depends on the design, material, handling, cleaning and frequency of use.
Highly intricate stencils containing very narrow features may be more delicate than simple designs.
Reasonable care should be taken during application, removal, cleaning and storage.
16.4 Food-related applications
Where a product is advertised as suitable for food-related use, customers should follow the accompanying cleaning and usage instructions and ensure that any paint, colouring agent or other substance used is appropriate for the application.
Stencils should be cleaned before and after use.
We do not represent every product as suitable for every food-contact, temperature or chemical application unless expressly stated.
16.5 Results
We do not guarantee that every stencil application will produce identical results, as outcomes depend on factors outside our control.
This does not affect any express product guarantees or statutory rights concerning product quality, description or fitness for an agreed purpose.
SECTION 17 – INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND DESIGN FILES
17.1 Website content
Our website, branding, original product photography, written material and other content owned by us are protected by applicable intellectual property law.
They must not be reproduced commercially without permission, except where permitted by law.
17.2 Customer artwork
Customers retain any intellectual property rights they hold in artwork supplied to us.
Submitting artwork does not transfer ownership of the underlying customer artwork to The Stencil Tailor.
17.3 Production files
Our manufacturing processes may involve creating specialist cutting files, bridge layouts, technical arrangements and production instructions.
Purchase of a physical stencil does not automatically include delivery of our editable working files, cutting software files or other production materials.
Any separately purchased digital deliverables will be described in the relevant agreement.
Nothing in this section removes rights that a customer otherwise holds in their own artwork or under applicable law.
17.4 Use of customer designs
We may store and process customer artwork as reasonably necessary to fulfil orders, provide customer support, maintain appropriate business records and comply with legal obligations.
We will not publicly use a customer's bespoke artwork for promotional purposes without an appropriate legal basis or permission.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
SECTION 18 – WEBSITE ACCESS AND CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS
Customers must use our website lawfully and provide accurate information when purchasing products.
Customers are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any account credentials.
We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the website, prevent fraud or respond to unlawful activity.
We will not exercise these rights in a way that unlawfully deprives customers of goods, services, refunds or other contractual or statutory entitlements.
SECTION 19 – SHOPIFY AND THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Our online store is powered by Shopify, which provides technology used to operate the website and checkout.
Purchases made through our website are contracts between the customer and The Stencil Tailor Ltd, not Shopify.
We may use third-party payment providers, delivery services and other suppliers to fulfil orders.
The use of third-party providers does not remove any legal responsibility we owe to customers.
Links to external websites may be provided for convenience. We are not responsible for the independent content or practices of external websites that we do not control, subject to applicable law.
SECTION 20 – PRIVACY AND COMMUNICATIONS
We collect and process customer information as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may contact customers about order confirmation, artwork questions, payment, delivery, support and other necessary matters relating to their purchase.
Customers should ensure that the email address provided remains accessible during order preparation.
Where additional instructions or approval are required, we may pause the relevant work until we receive a response.
Marketing communications will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy and electronic marketing laws.
SECTION 21 – PROHIBITED REQUESTS AND MISUSE
Customers must not use our website or services for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive or infringing activities.
We may refuse artwork that we reasonably believe is unlawful or infringes the rights of another person.
We may also take proportionate steps to protect our staff from threats, harassment or abusive conduct.
Any cancellation or restriction of service under this section will be handled fairly and without excluding applicable statutory rights.
SECTION 22 – WEBSITE INFORMATION AND ERRORS
We aim to keep product listings, specifications, prices and delivery information accurate.
Occasional errors or omissions may occur.
We may correct website errors and update information prospectively.
Where an error affects an order that has already been accepted, we will contact the customer and address the matter in accordance with the contract and applicable law.
We will not unilaterally increase an agreed order price without the customer's consent.
SECTION 23 – LIABILITY
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by negligence.
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
- Breach of statutory consumer rights where liability cannot lawfully be restricted.
- Any other matter for which liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.
We are responsible for losses caused by our breach of contract or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill where those losses are recoverable under applicable law.
We are not ordinarily responsible for losses arising solely from customer-supplied errors, misuse of products or circumstances outside our reasonable control, except where liability arises under applicable law.
Where a purchase is made wholly for business purposes, different legal rules may apply. Any limitation of liability in a business-to-business transaction will be subject to applicable law, including requirements of reasonableness.
SECTION 24 – EVENTS OUTSIDE OUR REASONABLE CONTROL
We may be affected by events outside our reasonable control, including serious transport disruption, exceptional weather, power failures, material shortages or other significant interruptions.
Where such an event materially affects an order, we will communicate with the customer where reasonably practicable and take reasonable steps to minimise disruption.
We will comply with any applicable rights to cancellation, reimbursement or other remedies.
This section does not remove obligations that the law places on us despite such events.
SECTION 25 – COMPLAINTS AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION
We aim to resolve order problems fairly and promptly.
Customers should contact us at info@thestenciltailor.com, preferably quoting their order number and explaining the issue.
For artwork-related complaints, it is helpful to identify the specific element of the agreed design that is disputed.
We may review the original order details, artwork, correspondence, proofs, approval history and manufacturing records when investigating a complaint.
We will consider the circumstances and provide an appropriate response or remedy.
Customers retain the right to pursue legally available remedies or independent dispute resolution.
SECTION 26 – GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to mandatory consumer protections that apply in other jurisdictions.
Where the customer is a consumer residing in another country, this clause does not deprive them of mandatory protections available under the law applicable to their contract.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a consumer from bringing proceedings in a court that has jurisdiction under applicable law.
SECTION 27 – SEVERABILITY
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be ineffective to the extent required by law.
The remaining provisions will continue to apply where legally permissible.
SECTION 28 – CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in our business, products, services or legal requirements.
The version applicable to an order will generally be the version in effect when the contract was formed, together with any subsequent amendments validly agreed between us and the customer.
Updated Terms will not automatically apply retrospectively to existing orders.
The current version will be available on this page.
